CENTRAL WISCONSIN WATER SKI SHOW TEAM

CWWSST HISTORY

The Central Wisconsin Water Ski Show Team was formed in 1997. Our mission is to provide quality show entertainment, develop the sport and skill of water skiing and promote team spirit within a family environment.

 

1997 Show Theme:  A Day At The Circus 

The team started with about 14 skiing members. A lot of time was spent cleaning and developing the ski site on Lake DuBay. The team did not participate in the state competition. Diane Arneson was Show Director.

 

1998 Show Theme:  Mardi Gras 

1st Place Division 3 State Tournament. Marie Murphy was the Show Director.

 

1999 Show Theme:  Castaway Island 

1st Place Division 3 State Tournament. The first permanent dock was installed on Lake DuBay.

 

2000 Show Theme:  Hooray for Hollywood 

6th Place Division 2 State Tournament. The team was automatically put into Division 2 this year after winning Division 3 two years in a row. Rick Koehler was Show Director.

 

2001 Show Theme:  Santa’s Summer Vacation 

6th Place Division 2 State Tournament. Rick Koehler was Show Director.

 

2002 Show Theme: Little Red Riding Hood Journeys Down the Enchanted River 

12th Place Division 2 State Tournament. Meg Gloudemans and Eric Johnson were Show Directors

 

2003 Show Theme: Alice in Dairyland 

8th Place Division 2 State Tournament, also 8th at D2 Nationals.  We won Comedy award at State and our comedy act, Elmer's Aqua Lounger, was the highest scoring act at D2 Nationals.Early in the summer someone stole a 150 horsepower motor from one of the boats. Most of the losses were covered by insurance.

 

2004  Show Theme: Fractured History 

 

2005 Show Theme:  I Love New York 

7th Place Division 2 State Tournament

 

2006 Show Theme:  Topsy Turvy Town 

Won 1st Place Division 3 State Tournament. Todd Prosser was the Show Director

 

2007 Show Theme: Clue 

Cindy Bodenheimer was the Show Director

 

2008 Show Theme:  Rock Around the Dock 

Ken Heinzen was the Show Director. The team held a Cow Pie Raffle at the Kelly Club in Weston. 

 

2009 Show Theme:  Road Trip USA 

Scott Gokey was Show Director, Janelle Gokey was Co-Show Director

2010 Show Theme:  Ski SPN 

Janelle Gokey was Show Director, Scott Gokey was Co-Show Director

 

2011 Show Theme:  Welcome to Camp Waterlog 

Aaron Beyersdorf was Show Director, Ali Schoenfeld was Co-Show Director

 

2012 Show Theme:  Water Walker Circus 

Janelle Gokey was Show Director. The team placed 7th in the Division 2 State Tournament. The team took the show on the road to Antigo and skied on Mueller's Lake.

2013 Show Theme:  Game On

Janelle Gokey was Show Director. The team placed 5th in the Division 3 State Tournament. 

2014 Show Theme: Discover Wisconsin

Janelle Gokey was Show Director. The team took the show on the road to Hochkiss' Last Cast on the Eau Pleine, Pike Lake Resort, and Mayflower Lake Resort. 

2015 Show Theme: The Water Walker's Kick It on Route 66

Janelle Gokey was Show Director. The team took the show on the road to Bullhead's Bar and Grill in Steven Point on the WI River for the 4th of July. The team also skied at Hochkiss' Last Cast and the Mayflower Lake Resort.

2016 Show Theme:  Welcome to Water Walker Junction

Janelle Gokey was Show Director. The Lake DuBay dock and jump were vandalized in the off season. The team spent a day repairing and rebuilding before the season started. The team took the show on the road to Bullhead's Bar and Grill, Mayflower Lake Resort, and Mueller's Lake. Janelle was presented the "Homegrown Hero" award by Y106.5 for her impact on the community through the water ski team. She was presented the award at the water ski show on June 12, 2016.

2017 Show Theme:  Water Walker 20 Year Family Reunion

Janelle Gokey was Show Director. The team celebrated 20 years with a fundraiser on March 4 at the Great Dane in Wausau. The team purchased a 1998 Malibu Echelon to add to their boat fleet. The team took the show on the road to Bullhead's Bar and Grill and Mayflower Lake Resort. 

2018 Show Theme: Water Walker Studios Presents: The Great Movie Adventure

Janelle Gokey was Show Director. After 4 years, the team competed in Division 3 at the State Tournament and took 5th place out of 8 teams. The team took the show on the road to Bullhead's Bar and Grill and Mayflower Lake Resort. In September, the team purchased a new used Dyna Ski boat equipped with twin 250hp Evinrude G2 Etec engines. We donated $2,353 to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight from donations collected at our August 19th fundraising show. 

2019 Show Theme: The Water Walker Shopping Network Presents: The Best of Classic Cartoons

Janelle Gokey was show director. The team competed in Divistion 3 at the State Tournament and took 6th place out of 8 teams. The team took the show on the road to Mayflower Lake Resort in Birnamwood. The team held another fundraising show for the Never Forgotten Honor Flight and was able to raise $1640.The team's 3rd annual Float the Boat Fundraiser was moved to October 2019 and was very successful! 

2020 Show Theme: The Best of The Water Walkers

Janelle Gokey was show director. The team was impacted by the covid-19 pandemic. The team did not perform any shows at our Lake Wausau location and only performed 11 shows total this season. Our annual fundraiser was postponed to 2021. The team applied and received a grant from the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin to use toward a new dock at our Lake Wausau location. 

2021 Show Theme: Water Walker Monopoly

Janelle Nagrant (Gokey) was show director. The team participated in "Ski Camp" hosted by the WI Water Ski Federation. The team won 1st place in Division 3 at the WI State Water Ski Tournament in WI Rapids and will move to Division 2 next year. 

 

2022 Show Theme: Super Mario Show Ski World

Janelle Nagrant was show director. The team placed 3rd in Division 2 at the WI State Water Ski Tournament in WI Rapids. The team received a grant from the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin to use toward replacing and upgrading our current sound system. The team hosted the Big Pull on Lake Dubay in September where skiers from all over gathered to break national and world records. Lake Dubay is now the home of two world records and a national record!

2023 Show Theme: Spongebob Squarepants The Ski Show!

Janelle Nagrant was show director. The team placed 5th in Division 2 at the Wi State Water Ski Tournament in WI Rapids. The competition was extremely tight with only a 56 point difference between 2nd and 5th place. The team received a grant from the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin for a new waterski equipment trailer. The team hosted it's first Knotty Girl Swivel tournament in June on Lake Wausau.

2024 Show Theme: Skierella 

The Water Walkers moved their Tuesday night show location from DC Everest Park to Bluegill Bay Park!
